Downtown Perry Movie Night Feb. 10th

Residents will come together for an outdoor movie night on Friday, Feb. 10, in downtown Perry at 7 p.m.

Perry Main Street and Leisure Services are partnering to host a free showing of The Quiet Man, starring John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara, for this first Perry Comes Together Movie Night event.  Because the event is right before Valentine’s Day, it is planned as a family-friendly, date-night.

This Oscar-winning 1952 film is about a former American boxer who returns to his ancestral home in Ireland and falls in love with Maureen O’Hara’s character.

The event will be on the lawn of the former courthouse on the 800 block of Carroll Street and will kick off with a cartoon at 7 p.m., with the movie following immediately afterwards.

Attendees may bring in their own cheese and crackers or other snacks to enjoy while watching the film.  Attendees are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and blankets.

Personal heaters, coolers and glass bottles are prohibited.

Attendees will be able to purchase alcohol at participating downtown vendors and bring it within the event footprint if they are 21 years old and are wearing an armband.   Attendees will not be allowed to bring in outside alcohol.

Perry Main Street will provide free, flameless candles to help create a romantic atmosphere.

In the event of inclement weather, the event will be at the Perry Arts Center at 1121 Macon Road.
