Fire Prevention requires members to dedicate their efforts to providing a secure and superior quality of life for the citizens, visitors, and investors through code enforcement, education, and fire investigations. The members further commit to cooperative relationships with other public safety organizations and code enforcement groups with common goals.
Fire and Life Safety Bureau
Currently, full-time Fire Inspectors, Fire Investigators, and Life Safety Educators are not funded positions. However, the duties of those positions are mandated by State and National agencies and organizations. Therefore, the completion of the Bureau’s mandated duties are achieved by additional ancillary assignments to Fire Officers and Firefighters. Personnel (Shift Fire Prevention Officers) on each of the three twenty-four hour shifts are assigned the responsibilities of carrying out the duties of the Inspection and Pre-fire planning during their shift day.
This Bureau also coordinates the scheduling and presentation of Public Education programs and Fire Station Tours as requested by the public. The Bureau is assisted in the presentations and tours by the on duty shift Firefighters. In some cases, off-duty Firefighters need to assist due to the audience size or number of presentations.
The Bureau Coordinator can be contacted at 478-988-2810 (Office) or 478-338–6368 (cell).
