Form-Based Code: We Want Your Input!

Patterns of Perry

The City is working to develop and implement form-based code starting with the General Courtney Hodges Boulevard corridor. This exciting new development code will allow property owners to utilize their property for a wider range of uses, guide development in the corridor, and make properties more attractive and marketable. The new code will be a land development ordinance amendment that fosters predictable built results and a high-quality public realm by using physical form (rather than separation of uses) as the organizing principle for the code. Form-based code is a progressive, valuable tool available to local governments that, when used appropriately and tailored to meet the unique goals and needs of community, can promote favorable community growth, economic development, and general community redevelopment.

Your input into this project is critical! Please makes plans to participate in the next part of the public input process, the Two-Day Charrette. The Two-Day Charrette will take place December 7-8, 2015 here in Perry at City Hall (1211 Washington Street) in the Council Chambers. For this event there will be an open house each afternoon from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. where staff will receive public input and comment and work with the community in developing a code that benefits everyone. Drop by any time. If you cannot make these dates/times, let us know and we can assist with making sure your voice is heard on this important matter.

Please do not hesitate to contact Robert Smith, Economic Development Director with the City of Perry via phone [(478) 988-2757] or email (robert.smith@perry-ga.gov) for any questions you may have or for further information.
