The Perry Fire Department was organized in 1910 . It is said that the first volunteer department was formed and that it had seven (7) members. If
the bell was sounded alerting the men of a fire, they would then have to go to
the department and pull the "Golden Hose Wheel" to the closest hydrant.
The City of Perry did not have a adequate water supply so the primary
objective was to wet down the surrounding buildings. Many changes have occurred since we began.
