The Perry Downtown Development
Authority (DDA) is a public body created by the City of Perry
for the purpose of promoting, for the public good, a climate
favorable for the growth of new and existing businesses in our
downtown.
The DDA consists of a seven member Board of
Directors. These volunteers are appointed to four year terms by
the Mayor and City Council and must be taxpayers residing in the
City of Perry or owners or operators of a business in the

Mission Statement
Our goal is to have a
vibrant and attractive central business district that provides economic
opportunities and enhances the quality of life for our citizens.
To achieve this, we focus on the following three areas…
§Activities for Community
Enhancement
What is the DDA?
The Perry Downtown
Development Authority (DDA) is a quasi-governmental entity affiliated with
the City of Perry. Goals of the DDA are directed toward planning and
management of development and improvement activities, marketing and
promotion, business recruitment and retention activities, capital
improvements, and administrative costs.
What are the benefits of
being located with the DDA District?
The Perry DDA advocates for
downtown, and therefore, can serve as a valuable resource for your
business. The DDA supports downtown businesses in terms of : 1)
Acting as a liaison with City, County, and State officials on behalf of
downtown; 2) Assisting property owners with improvement projects; 3)
Funding (entirely or partially) downtown beautification programs
(planters, public streetscape improvements, redevelopment of public
spaces, etc.); 4) Actively recruiting businesses that complement the
business mix and generate pedestrian traffic; 5) Publishing downtown
marketing materials; 6) Coordinating and supporting downtown special
events to attract people downtown; and 7) Addressing downtown challenges
and implementing short-term solutions while considering long-term
infrastructure improvements.
The DDA strives to increase traffic and
promotion of downtown with programs like the Farmer’s Market and Christmas
at the Crossroads.
§The DDA strives to enhance the quality of life by improving the
physical characteristics of downtown with capital improvement projects like
the Garden Park and the Bench Replacement Program.
§The DDA encourages diversity of activities in the
downtown with projects like the Perry Arts Center.
Who is the DDA?
The Perry DDA is comprised
of a volunteer Board of Directors committed to the improvement and
revitalization of downtown Perry. The Board establishes the long
term vision and serves to accomplish those defined objectives.
