The James E. Worrall Foundation invites the citizens of Perry to attend the First Annual “Heritage Park – Day at the Park” fundraiser being held on Saturday, May 30, 2015. This event will be a pet-friendly, family-style picnic and fundraiser at the site of what will become Heritage Park. The event will run from 11 AM to 2 PM at Heritage Park, 2005 Sam Nunn Blvd, Perry, Ga 31069. Guests are invited to bring their families, pets, blankets, and lawn chairs, and enjoy a picnic lunch served by The Worrall Foundation. There will be live entertainment and games for children to enjoy. Attendees will have the privilege of viewing the development plans for the future park area and learning more about The Worrall Foundation.
“Our goals for this event are to acquaint the community with our plans for this passive green park as well as raise money for those plans,” says John Hulbert, Co-President of The Worrall Foundation. “Heritage Park will be a community asset for public use, and it is important that we have the support of the community, not only in order to reach our financial goals but also to ensure the longevity of the development.” Funds raised at this event will go towards the build-out of the structural enhancements for this park.
The Worrall Foundation has been working closely with the City of Perry to develop the strategic plan for recreational growth and opportunities for the city. The need for additional parks and green space has been defined as one of those opportunities. The Worrall Foundation is working with the City to develop these 20+ acres into a passive park that will offer various recreational activities. Long term, the vision is to make Heritage Park one of the anchors of the Perry Greenway. The Worrall Foundation has set a goal to raise $300,000 in funds in 2015 to complete the plans for this park. Individuals who cannot attend the Day at the Park event but would like to support the cause can make donations at www.crowdrise.com/perryheritagepark.
