The Joint Comprehensive Plan,
the Perry Land Development Ordinance, and
City Code are the two major documents governing the City of Perry.
The Comprehensive Plan
The Joint Comprehensive Plan is a general guide for the future of Perry and
Houston County. It is an opportunity for the citizens and government officials to anticipate and plan for the community's future. In
Georgia, comprehensive plans have their legal basis in the Code of Georgia. The Code requires that every governing body adopt a comprehensive plan and that it be reviewed at least once every five years. The
City's current comprehensive plan was adopted in 1996 and is available in its
entirety in the Community Development Department, located in City Hall at 1211
Washington Street.
The City Code
The Perry City Code includes all of the local ordinances enacted and enforced by the
City of Perry. The Code includes the City Charter which is granted by the
Georgia General Assembly, the general Code of Ordinances, and one appendix, the
Perry Land Development Ordinance. The ordinances in the City Code are enacted and enforced by the
City Council.
The municipal (city) code of Perry is hosted by
an online service/company called Municode, Inc. To view the code click on the

not be reflected in the online code. Whenever in doubt please call the City
Clerk at 478-988-2700 to determine the most recent ordinance.
