Water System

The City of Perry Water System has a permitted production capacity of 6.15 million gallons per day (MGD).  This capacity includes the 1.0 MGD Main St. Water Plant and the 4.0 MGD Woodlawn Water Treatment Plant.  The Water Utility consists of two divisions, Treatment and Distribution, and provides safe drinking water to over 7,300 customers.  The City also has several connections with the Houston County Water System that provide a backup water source.  These water plants receive raw water for treatment from five (5) wells at various locations around the City.  The wells are checked and maintained daily and the water table levels are checked weekly.  The City is currently using an average of 1.780 MGD per day and uses a SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) System to track and record data on the water system.

The distribution system includes more than 148.5 miles of water mains in various diameters and materials and has five (5) elevated storage tanks that can store 1.75 million gallons of water.
