Notice of Property Tax Increase | PDF Download The City of Perry Council has tentatively adopted a 2020 millage rate which will require an increase in property tax by 0.26 percent. All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing on this tax increase to be held at the Perry Arts Center, 1121 Macon Road, Perry, Georgia on August 18, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. Times and places of additional public hearings on this tax increase are at the Perry Arts Center, 1121 Macon Road, Perry, Georgia on August 31, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. and on September 1, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 14.05 mills, an increase of 0.037 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 14.013 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $150,000 is approximately $2.15, and the the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $300,000 is approximately $4.40. Unless your property has been increased due to reassessment there will be no increase in your City tax bill.

Public Works Superintendent Appointed

The City of Perry is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Ansley Fitzner as the City’s Public Works Superintendent. Her appointment was approved during the July 7, 2020 council meeting. “I’m so proud to live in this great city and serve the citizens of Perry. I plan to lead the Public Works Department with the energy and enthusiasm needed to capitalize on our strengths. We are motivated to constantly strive for improvements in our services and staff,” said Ms. Fitzner. Ms. Fitzner graduated from the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture.  Her professional experience includes landscape maintenance, seasonal color programming, landscape design, landscape construction administration, and grant writing. She has served as the City’s Landscape Manager since 2017. Ms. Fitzner has two boys, Watt (age 5) and Ellis (age 3). City of Perry Public Works is located at 500 Ball Street in Perry.

The meetings will be held at the James E. Worrall Center located at 1060 Keith Drive. All meetings of the council are open to the public unless otherwise closed in compliance with executive session guidelines.

Run Big Shop Small Virtual Race

The Perry Main Street Program is hosting Run Big, Shop Small Virtual Race to support the small businesses that make Historic Downtown Perry a vibrant place! Participants will register and pledge to complete the distance of their choice from 1 mile, 5k, 10k, or Half Marathon. The race may be completed almost anywhere – neighborhoods, gyms, or Historic Downtown Perry. Participants can complete their race during any day of their choosing. They are, however, encouraged to complete their run between July 18-26. Runners and walkers of all fitness levels are welcome to participate. The $30.00 official registration packet includes a Run Big, Shop Small t-shirt, event medal, and race bib.  Packets will be available for pick-up prior to race week in Historic Downtown Perry. Registration spots are limited and will close on July 3, 2020. A portion of the event proceeds will be donated to the Perry Main Street Program whose mission is to promote a thriving downtown business district while preserving Perry’s historic resources and character.
