Grants are awarded in $50 increments, with a maximum grant award of $1,000. Applicants may apply for funds to purchase business equipment, eligible interior renovations, façade grants if the applicant owns the property, a security system or professional services.  Grant funds may not be used for payment of salaries, debts, rent, lease, mortgage, rental deposits, utility bills, late payments or fees, alcohol, tobacco, medicine, inventory, or ingredients or components used to produce inventory. Applications must be submitted online on the City of Perry’s Economic Development page and must include quotes and other requested information.  Incomplete applications will not be considered. Program information, rules and procedures are available at http://bit.ly/2JxS4Us.  Seventeen grants totaling nearly $11,000.00 have been awarded to downtown Perry businesses since July 2015. BOOST Downtown Perry is an investment group that provides grant funds to entrepreneurs and owners of small businesses in the district.  The DDA, the economic vitality arm of Perry’s Main Street Program, holds the funds until they are awarded.   The BOOST program is always seeking more participants/businesses to assist in funding the BOOST recipients. Perry area residents or businesses from outside the Downtown District can participate as a BOOSter. “If your business is blessed and you are seeking an outlet to help support businesses in Downtown Perry, especially with Covid19, then we would be happy to add you to our BOOSTer roster,” says Ashley Hardin, City of Perry Economic Development Manager and DDA staff member.   For more information, please contact Perry’s Economic Development Manager at (478) 988-2755 or Ashley.Hardin@perry-ga.gov.

Boil Water Advisory | Area of 1609 Northside Road & Pine Needle

May 21, 2020

BOIL WATER ADVISORY Area of 1609 Northside Road & Pine Needle May 21, 2020 | 4:00 p.m. An issue in the area 1609 Northside Road caused water pressure to drop to dangerously low levels. The Pine Needle area is also affected. A potential health hazard may exist in these areas of zero pressure from backflow and/or back-siphonage of water of unknown quality into the water distribution system. In order to protect the public from a potential health hazard, all citizens that have experienced water outages and/or low water pressures are advised to “boil” all water prior to use for drinking, cooking, or preparing baby food. The water should be boiled for at least one minute after reaching a rolling boil. The advisory will be active approximately 24 hours for testing to be completed. An update will be sent out when the advisory is lifted. Citizens should continue to boil their water until they are notified by their drinking water utility that the water system has been restored to full operation, and that the microbiological quality of the water in the distribution system is safe for human consumption.
