May Day Festival and Soap Box Derby

The City of Perry and the Perry Public Arts Commission are hosting an outdoor art festival on Saturday, May 18th, 2019, from 10AM – 4 pm. Join us in Historic Downtown Perry for our first ever Soap Box/Gravity Racer Derby, Live Art, food, drinks and live music! **The race will begin at 10AM on Washington Street and the live art/entertainment will begin at 12PM right here in Historic Downtown Perry, GA!** ___________ To apply to be an artist for this event, please fill out the registration form at the link below: https://goo.gl/forms/9gbmPZAKAKULMArP2 To register for the soap box derby, please fill out the registration form at the link below: https://forms.gle/tsCyNRgkQ5CdrEKr8 DOWNHILL GRAVITY RACE/DERBY RULES: Three wheels minimum (must be sufficient quality to support race car and driver) Must have brakes sufficient to hold and stop race car Must have place to put feet in safe manor Cannot have any propulsion device other than gravity. (ie No springs, motors, launching devices, etc.) Steering system must be safe and functional Any building material can be used (wood, steel, plastic or any combination of materials) No Sharp objects in driver area Driver must wear a helmet while racing (Bike helmet at a minimum will suffice) – All cars will be inspected prior to racing and must pass inspection to participate/race – All contestants are required to sign a liability waiver in order to participate in this race – Any using of feet, hands or pushing of cart during race will be grounds for disqualification – Any construction or questions of these rules can be answered by calling Bob Taylor at (478) 988-2883.

Visit with Santa on the old courthouse lawn while enjoying a firetruck ride around the square with our Perry Fire Department from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm, and then stick around as Perry presents “The Polar Express” movie for everyone at sunset! Grab your blankets, Tacky Christmas Sweaters, and be sure to bundle up! Hot Chocolate, Cider, and other sweet treats will be available to purchase. We can’t wait to ring in the holiday season right here in downtown Perry.

UGA vs FL Tailgate Party

Will you be yelling Sic ‘Em or will you be doing the Gator Chomp at this year’s FREE GA vs. FL tailgate and live game broadcast? Join us this Saturday, October 27th , at 1:00 p.m. for one of the biggest rivalries in the SEC as we all hunker down, together! Meet us between the hedges in Perry, GA at Heritage Park for game-day! This tailgate is BYOEverything. Grab your friends and family, pack up all of your tailgating necessities and watch the Georgia Bulldogs take on the Florida Gators that afternoon. There will be some food trucks on site but we encourage you to bring your own picnics and favorite tailgating spread and snacks. Outside alcohol for ages 21 and older is allowed. Please make sure to bring your own chairs and blankets as well. Folding tables, pop up tents, etc., are also allowed. Cornhole, inflatables for children, and the pre-game show will be available beginning at 1:00 p.m.! Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m. Heritage Park is located at 2005 Sam Nunn Blvd, Perry, Ga 31069. Give a cheer for the Orange and Blue or Glory, Glory to old Georgia, but either way come enjoy some good ‘ole fashioned rivalry football right here in Perry, GA! Sweets & Treats on Downtown Streets

Join us for our annual Sweets & Treats On Downtown Streets this year for Halloween! Trick-Or-Treat with the Downtown Perry Merchants from 4:00-6:00 pm in Downtown Historic Perry. Local businesses and organizations will be open with treats for the little ones (ages 12 and under). Come dressed in your costumes and shop till you drop while visiting Downtown Perry!
