Our dedicated employees continued to provide the quality service Perry is known for – even during uncertain times. Keeping our employees safe and healthy remains one of our top priorities. Today, we continue to focus on bringing quality growth to our city and value to our citizens. Perry is stronger than ever and we look forward to building a bright future for our citizens, businesses, and visitors. #WhereGeorgiaComesTogether

My Colorful Community Event

August 17, 2020

Let’s celebrate our colorful community of Perry while participating independently in artistic activities! We will be hosting free interactive art activities that everyone can enjoy safely on their own schedule! Additionally, we will also be hosting fun contests and giveaways, so make plans to get creative with us!   Activity #1: The Chalk Walk Visit the Weeletka and White Tail Trail System in Perry from Friday, September 11th through Sunday, September 13th to participate in a community-wide chalk walk! Artists of all ages and abilities are invited to select a “rectangle” on the trail to chalk a design of their choice, then take a walk along the trail to see the designs that others have made! Please only design within the designated “rectangle” space, available on a first-come, first-serve basis. A limited amount of chalk will be made available along the trail, however artists are strongly encouraged to bring their own chalk. This is a family event. Artwork containing profanity or any content deemed vulgar, derogatory, controversial or otherwise inappropriate by the City will be removed. The Weeletka Trail and White Tail Trail systems can be accessed at either 650 General Courtney Hodges Boulevard or 1107 Creekwood Drive (Perry, GA, 31069). Please practice social distancing by keeping space between yourself and other artists while you work and walk the trail. Please see the event discussion for complete details or email anya.turpin@perry-ga.gov to learn more.   Activity #2: Perry Rocks Pick a park, trail or other public place in Perry from Friday, September 11th through Sunday, September 13th to participate in a community-wide rock hunt! Gather a few supplies (a smooth rock, paint and brushes), then decorate your rock — with any design of your choice — and let it dry! Write “Perry Rocks” on the underside of the rock then hide. You can also post a photo of the rock on this event page once you have completed it or after you have hidden it, giving clues as to where it is located. Popular hiding spots include parks, playgrounds and near businesses (with permission). Please be mindful of the environment and do not attach anything to the rocks, as there is no guarantee that it will stay on and not become litter or a swallowing hazard for children or wildlife. We encourage you to hide your rock within Perry. Please do not hide rocks in National or State Parks or on private property without obtaining permission. Please practice social distancing by keeping space between yourself and other artists while you hide and seek rocks. Please see the event discussion for complete details or email anya.turpin@perry-ga.gov to learn more.   “My Colorful Community” Kits (Free While Supplies Last) Participants may choose to pick up a free “My Colorful Community” kit from the Worrall Center at Rozar Park during normal operating hours (8 AM through 5 PM) only from Thursday, September 10th through Friday, September 11th (Limited quantity, available while supplies last). Each kit will include an apron, chalk, paint and other supplies. Limit one kit per person and you must be present to pick up a kit, no holds or picking […]
