The Planning and Zoning Division is responsible for the current and long range planning activities which guide the orderly growth and development of the City of Perry. These planning activities are performed through implementation of the Land Management Ordinance (LMO) along with shaping growth and redevelopment to meet the City’s Comprehensive Plan. The division is responsible for making administrative decisions on the following types of requests:

  • Sign Permit
  • Building Permit
  • Site Plan Permit
  • Final Plat
  • Minor Subdivision
  • Zoning Compliance
  • Certificate of Appropriateness (in historic districts)

The Planning and Zoning Division also staffs the City Council-appointed Planning Commission.  The Division prepares Staff Reports and Recommendations to the Planning Commission on the following types of applications:

  • Variance
  • Administrative Appeal
  • Preliminary Plat
  • Special Exception
  • Rezoning
  • Zoning Map Amendment
  • Land Management Ordinance Text Amendment
