Introducing the City of Perry’s Fall Fitness Series, featuring a variety of FREE outdoor workouts including Yoga, Zumba, Tai Chi, and more! On Saturday, October 31st, we’re bringing you Bootcamp in the Park with Sharon Edgley, instructor at Robins Air Force Base and Anytime Fitness Perry. We welcome all ages, abilities and fitness levels to participate! Please note, there are no restroom facilities at this location and the grass may be wet. Please plan accordingly. All sessions will be held at Heritage Oaks Park in Perry at 9 AM, weather permitting. Please practice social distancing by spacing out at least six feet from the participants surrounding you. Live classes are to be held contingent upon current CDC guidelines and other applicable factors. Event Details To get to Heritage Oaks Park from I-75, take Exit 136, heading west towards West Perry Parkway. Once you turn into the park, you will find a parking area adjacent to the greenspace. If the parking lot is full, you may park on the grass lawn marked “Overflow Parking” in the graphic above. Please note, there are currently no restrooms at this location. Please plan accordingly.

Halloweeletka

Come celebrate “Halloweeletka” on the Weeletka Trail in Perry from October 30 – November 1! Families are invited to enjoy a variety of free Halloween themed activities that everyone can enjoy safely and independently on their own schedule! Additionally, we will also be hosting pop-up dessert vendors, fun contests, and giveaways throughout the weekend, so make plans to get spirited with us! Costumes are encouraged! Halloweelet-kits! Thanks to our partners, we will be giving away FREE “Halloweelet-Kits” at Rotary Centennial Park on the weekend of October 30 – November 1! Limited quantity, available while supplies last. Each kit will include an apron, chalk, and assorted Halloween goodies for kids to enjoy while participating in the Halloweeletka activities (limit one kit per child, please). Kits ARE NOT required to participate and City of Perry residency is NOT required to receive a kit or participate. Activity #1: Go On A Ghost Hunt! Visit the Weeletka Trail in Perry anytime from Friday, October 30th through Sunday, November 1st and search for more than a dozen friendly ghosts hidden high amongst the trees! Activity #2: Enjoy A Story Book Walk – Now with 2 Stories! A Story Book Walk is a fun, educational activity that places the pages from a children’s story along a trail in a community. So take a walk along the Weeletka Trail anytime from Friday, October 30th through Sunday, November 1st to enjoy our Story Book Walk. The story selected for our Story Book Walk is: “That Monster on the Block.” Join ‘Monster’ as he confronts his fears in this charming and lighthearted look at what it means to accept others who are different from us. Also included is “The Day of the Dead. El Dia De Los Muertos. A Bilingual Celebration.”! Activity #3: Participate In A Community-Wide Chalk Walk! Artists of all ages and abilities are invited to select a space along the Weeletka Trail to chalk a Halloween or Fall-Themed design of their choice, then take a walk along the trail to see the designs that others have made! Spaces are free, available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Complementary chalk will be made available along the trail, however artists are welcome to bring their own chalk. This is a family event. Artwork containing profanity or any content deemed vulgar, derogatory, controversial or otherwise inappropriate by the City will be removed. The Weeletka Trail can be accessed at 104 MLK Jr. Drive, Perry, GA 31069. Please practice social distancing by keeping space between yourself and other attendees while you visit the trail. As a continuation of our Virtual Event Series, the City of Perry is excited to host our first “Virtual Trivia Game Night” on Friday, August 28th at 7:00 PM. Featuring five rounds and five prizes, we’re talking about FREE…FAMILY…FUN all from the comfort and safety of your own home! “So, what exactly IS a Virtual Trivia Game Night?”, you’re probably wondering. Well, we are glad you asked! Firstly, this virtual game welcomes EVERYONE! All ages and abilities are welcome to participate. Residency within the City of Perry is NOT required to participate or to win! You may choose to participate as an individual or as a team with other members of your household. Secondly, this virtual game will take place ENTIRELY within this Facebook Event – not on our City of Perry page. Please make sure you mark that you are “Going” to the event to ensure that you receive reminders and updates! Thirdly, we will make a post for each round and ALL rounds will include a variety of trivia relating to our community of Perry, Georgia. My Colorful Community Event

Let’s celebrate our colorful community of Perry while participating independently in artistic activities! We will be hosting free interactive art activities that everyone can enjoy safely on their own schedule! Additionally, we will also be hosting fun contests and giveaways, so make plans to get creative with us!   Activity #1: The Chalk Walk Visit the Weeletka and White Tail Trail System in Perry from Friday, September 11th through Sunday, September 13th to participate in a community-wide chalk walk! Artists of all ages and abilities are invited to select a “rectangle” on the trail to chalk a design of their choice, then take a walk along the trail to see the designs that others have made! Please only design within the designated “rectangle” space, available on a first-come, first-serve basis. A limited amount of chalk will be made available along the trail, however artists are strongly encouraged to bring their own chalk. This is a family event. Artwork containing profanity or any content deemed vulgar, derogatory, controversial or otherwise inappropriate by the City will be removed. The Weeletka Trail and White Tail Trail systems can be accessed at either 650 General Courtney Hodges Boulevard or 1107 Creekwood Drive (Perry, GA, 31069). Please practice social distancing by keeping space between yourself and other artists while you work and walk the trail. Gather a few supplies (a smooth rock, paint and brushes), then decorate your rock — with any design of your choice — and let it dry! Write “Perry Rocks” on the underside of the rock then hide. You can also post a photo of the rock on this event page once you have completed it or after you have hidden it, giving clues as to where it is located. Popular hiding spots include parks, playgrounds and near businesses (with permission). Please be mindful of the environment and do not attach anything to the rocks, as there is no guarantee that it will stay on and not become litter or a swallowing hazard for children or wildlife. We encourage you to hide your rock within Perry. Please do not hide rocks in National or State Parks or on private property without obtaining permission. Yoga in the Park

Take a deep breath…and exhale! Everyone’s favorite wellness series is back! The next session of the City of Perry’s Yoga in the Park series will take place at Rozar Park on Saturday, August 29th. Join us at 9 AM for a FREE waterside yoga session led by our friends at Homegrown Yoga! Our Yoga in the Park series welcomes all ages, abilities and fitness levels to participate! Attendees are encouraged to bring their own mat or towel, however a limited number of yoga mats will be available to borrow, courtesy of Homegrown Yoga. All sessions will be held at Rozar Park at 9 AM, weather permitting. Please practice social distancing by spacing your mats out at least six feet from the participants surrounding you.
