Holiday on Carroll-CANCELLED

UPDATE: Due to the unfortunate weather forecast for this weekend, Holiday on Carroll is CANCELLED. Outdoor activities will not be possible due to the rain and colder weather we are expecting. However, some of our shops will still be hosting fun activities during their normal business hours. Spend your rainy day visiting and shopping downtown Perry at your leisure! Holiday on Carroll is right around the corner! Join us in Downtown Historic Perry on Dec. 8th for an afternoon full of all your favorite Holiday traditions! Shop downtown Perry for all of this year’s gift needs — some downtown Merchants will even have fun family activities outside/inside of their shops for all to enjoy! Visit with Santa on the old courthouse lawn while enjoying a firetruck ride around the square with our Perry Fire Department from 4-6PM, and then stick around as Perry presents “The Polar Express” movie for everyone at sunet! Grab your blankets, Tacky Christmas Sweaters & Holiday attire, and be sure to bundle up! Hot Chocolate, Cider, and other sweet treats will be available to purchase. Small Business Saturday

Downtown Perry will kick off the holiday shopping season on Small Business Saturday, Nov. 24. Participating shops, which are primarily on Carroll Street and neighboring streets in the historic downtown area, will be open on the Saturday after Thanksgiving from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  The event is a partnership between the Perry Main Street Advisory Board and the Perry Downtown Merchants Council. The event will feature a passport shopping promotion, with participating merchants, for a chance to win a drawing for $300 in downtown dollars. Shoppers are encouraged to make the welcome table at the Perry Chamber of Commerce, at 900 Carroll Street, their first stop.  There they will receive shopping passports and Shop Small shopping totes while supplies last. PASSPORT SHOPPING PROMOTION After shoppers have their passports stamped by at least 10 participating businesses, they will turn in their passport at the welcome table or with the last participating merchant they visit to be entered in a drawing for $300 in downtown dollars. No purchase is necessary to participate in the passport promotion.

Stuff the Cruiser

The Perry Police Department is hosting a Fall Stuff the Cruiser to help the local food bank, Loaves and Fishes, for the holidays! Come out on Saturday, November 17, 2018, from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm to stuff the cruiser for the holidays at the Perry Walmart on St. Patricks Dr. They will be collecting non-perishable food items and cash donations!

Fall Neighborhood Cleanup

October 22, 2018

The Perry Housing Team and Houston County Habitat for Humanity will be hosting a fall neighborhood cleanup.  It will take place on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018 in the Smoak neighborhood.  We will meet that morning at 8:00 a.m. at Perry High School on 1307 North Ave., Perry, GA 31069 for the cleanup and will finish at Noon with lunch and fellowship for our volunteers.   Sign up to volunteer at www.hocohabitat.org. In addition to the traditional cleanup, Mike Wells Towing is supporting our efforts by committing to pick up any abandoned vehicles in the Smoak neighborhood the week of the cleanup (Oct. 29-Nov. 3).  Give them a call at 478-987-7311 if you need their help!  Also, if you are in that neighborhood and unable to tend to your yard due to a disability or know a neighbor that is unable, please call our Code Compliance Officer, Danny Hicks, for assistance at 478-988-2704 or danny.hicks@perry-ga.gov.
