The City Attorney provides legal counsel and advocacy to the Perry City Council and its appointees. Our goal is to promote the interests of the City through its laws, and to reduce the risk of legal liability through advance planning and prevention measures.
The City of Perry is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Brooke Newby as the new City Attorney. Her appointment was approved during the October 15 council meeting. She will begin on November 4.
Mrs. Newby received her law degree from Mercer University and was admitted to the Georgia Bar in 2010. She is also admitted to practice in the Georgia Court of Appeals, Georgia Supreme Court, United States District Court for the Middle District of Georgia, United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Rhetoric from Georgia College & State University in 2007.
Mrs. Newby is a member of Leadership Georgia Class of 2014. She was named an “Outstanding Georgia Citizen” by the Secretary of State for her work with the Professional Licensing Boards Division of the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office in 2016.
She was appointed to the Georgia Judicial Nominating Commission by Governor Kemp in February 2019.
