Starting June 2018, Judge Lewis will be the new lead Municipal Court Judge.

Sharell Lewis is a 1985 graduate of the University of Georgia where she Majored in Business.  She attended the Walter f. George school of law at Mercer University where she obtained her J.D. in 1995.

She served as the director of government affairs for the greater Macon chamber of commerce and spent three years as an associate with the law firm of Arnell, Golden & Gregory in the litigation division.

She worked as an assistant district attorney for the Macon Judicial Circuit from 2001 through 2012.  She has prosecuted property crimes, narcotics cases and murder cases.   As an ADA her primary focus was major white collar crimes including mortgage fraud.  In addition to the criminal penalties, Sharell has taken advantage of the civil remedies available under the state’s racketeering statute in order to recover funds stolen in embezzlement and mortgage fraud schemes.

In 2013 she became the Chief Assistant Solicitor-General for Bibb County Solicitor-General Rebecca Grist. In addition to her administrative duties, Sharell carries a full caseload concentrating on prosecuting DUI cases.  She also enjoys teaching and has lead continuing legal education courses for prosecutors and is a regular adjunct at the Georgia public safety training center in Forsyth where she focuses on courtroom testimony and DUI case preparation courses.

Sharell has also taken several post courses including standardized field sobriety testing, advanced roadside impaired driving enforcement and the completed the drug recognition expert course and field evaluations.

Sharell has been married for 22 years to Russell Lewis, a retired Macon police officer and the current chief investigator for the Georgia office of the secretary of state. She is an active member of Ingleside Baptist church in Macon, Georgia.
