December 18, 2018

The City is participating in the “Only Rain Down the Storm Drain” sticker program. The goal is to educate and alert residents not to dump pollutants in or near the stormwater drain. Stormwater drains connect to local waterways and anything entering the drain will pollute those waters. Over the coming weeks, stickers will be placed on storm drain inlets throughout the city. City purchases 61 acres for new park

December 5, 2018

The City of Perry is pleased to announce the purchase of 61.355 acres from Cherokee Pines Country Club and Fitness Center, Inc.  Mayor and Council have committed to investing in quality of life amenities in the City of Perry and this purchase is a continuation of their long term strategy to add parks, trails and greenspace for the city.  This project was initiated by Councilman Robert Jones after requests from the residents of that district.  In agreement, the City wants to preserve it from future development and provide the first ever park for that area of Perry. It will be used for passive greenspace, walking trails, low impact activities and more.  Through the generosity of Marty Myers it was purchased for approximately $797,600.  Following their strategic plan and focus on recreational and leisure opportunities, the City is investing nearly $6 million dollars in parks and public spaces. These investments are bolstered by Perry’s growing population.
