Fourth Application Round for BOOST Grants Announced

November 2, 2016

Perry Downtown Development Authority is proud to announce it is accepting applications to boost small businesses and entrepreneurs in the downtown development district with funding needs. Perry Downtown Development Authority, or DDA, is the economic vitality arm of Perry’s Main Street Program.  The DDA will accept applications for the fourth round of BOOST grants through Thursday, Nov. 17, at 5 p.m.  Grant announcements will be made in December. Applications for the crowd-funded micro-grants are completed online on the city’s website at www.perry-ga.gov/economic-development/downtown-development-authority/boost-investment-group/. Applicants may apply for funds to purchase supplies, business equipment, marketing and advertising, eligible interior renovations, a security system or professional services.  Grant funds may not be used for payment of rent, lease, mortgage, rental deposits, utility bills, late payments or fees, alcohol, tobacco, medicine, salaries or debts. BOOST Downtown Perry is an investment group that provides grant funds to entrepreneurs and owners of small businesses in the downtown development district.  BOOSTers, the investors in the program, donate $100 twice a year for two years to fund the program.  The DDA holds the funds until they are awarded. Currently, twice a year the investors review the grant requests and vote on who will receive grants and the amounts of each grant.  Grants are awarded in $50 increments, with a maximum grant award of $1,000. For more information, please, contact Perry Main Street Coordinator Catherine Edgemon at (478) 988-2758 or catherine.edgemon@perry-ga.gov, or visit www.perry-ga.gov/economic-development/downtown-development-authority/boost-investment-group/.    On July 29, 2016, Gentry Downtown Market manager Hanna Gentry, far right, receives a $250 BOOST grant to update the business’ point of sale system.
