Perry Business Receives $26,400 In Natural Gas Incentive

It pays to be a small business in Perry! The Downtown Development Authority of the City of Perry (DDA) presented a $26,408.98 check to the Morning By Morning Coffee Company for participating in the Natural Gas Incentive Program. This program was created by the City of Perry and DDA as an incentive to bring more unique, local restaurants to the Perry Downtown District. Qualified restaurants are eligible for reimbursement up to fifty percent of the total purchase and installation costs of certain commercial natural gas fueled appliances. Ashley Hardin, City of Perry Economic Development Manager, said, “this incentive is an additional method to entice restaurateurs to the Downtown District. Morning By Morning Coffee Company is a testament to the growing success of local restaurants coming to the downtown area.” Morning By Morning Coffee Company is the first business to utilize this incentive program.

Downtown Development Authority Awards Grant to Downtown Business

Spencer Shugart, owner of Summit Physical Therapy, is the latest recipient of the crowd-funded Perry Downtown Development Authority (DDA) “BOOST” grant. The money will be spent on a Clinical Electrotherapy & Ultrasound Combo Unit which will be utilized to reduce pain and increase healing in muscle and tendon injuries. BOOST Downtown Perry is an investment group that provides micro-grants to entrepreneurs and owners of small businesses in the downtown development district.   They have awarded over $12,000 in grants since 2015. Investors, known as BOOSTers, donate the program’s funds and vote on applications.  Current members include William Jackson of Ace Hardware, Dey Palmer of Bank of Perry, Davis Cosey of Davis Oil Company, Cheri Adams of Houston Home Journal, Brian Burnham of Perry Animal Hospital, and Dianna Hall of Village Boutique. BOOST Applications Now Available

Downtown Perry’s small businesses may apply for a grant to purchase equipment and eligible supplies. The Perry Downtown Development Authority, or DDA, is accepting applications for the tenth round of BOOST grants; applications will be accepted from November 4-22.  Only existing, brick-and-mortar businesses in Perry’s downtown development district are eligible to apply. Applicants may apply for funds to purchase business equipment, eligible interior renovations, façade grants if the applicant owns the property, a security system or professional services.  Grant funds may not be used for payment of salaries, debts, rent, lease, mortgage, rental deposits, utility bills, late payments or fees, alcohol, tobacco, medicine, inventory, or ingredients or components used to produce inventory. Applications must be submitted online on the City of Perry’s Economic Development page and must include quotes and other requested information.  Incomplete applications will not be considered.  Program information, rules and procedures are available at http://bit.ly/2JxS4Us. Grant announcements will be made in December.  Grants are awarded in $50 increments, with a maximum grant award of $1,000. Sixteen grants totaling nearly $10,000.00 have been awarded to downtown Perry businesses since July 2015. BOOST Downtown Perry is an investment group that provides grant funds to entrepreneurs and owners of small businesses in the district.  The DDA, the economic vitality arm of Perry’s Main Street Program, holds the funds until they are awarded.
