Downtown Businesses Benefit From Main Street Resiliency Grant

June 15, 2020

The Perry Main Street Advisory Board awarded over $4,700 in grant money to nineteen Historic Downtown Perry businesses. The grants are funded through the Perry Main Street Program Small Business Resiliency Grant. The Resiliency Fund is intended to support small businesses and their employees in Perry’s downtown district who are significantly impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak. City of Perry’s Main Street Coordinator Haley Bryant said, “As we move forward, together, the Perry Main Street program will continue to provide resources and opportunities that encourage economic stability and sustainability to our local businesses. Our hope is that our business owners feel supported as we continue to attract new businesses and visitors. We strive to create a place for everyone to call Historic Downtown Perry home. None of it would be possible without our small businesses which are the spine of our local economy and the heartbeat of our community.” Trish Cossart, business owner of Cossart Design and Board Chair of the Main Street Advisory Board, said, “The Advisory Board, along with generous donations from the Samaritan Closet organization and the Perry Convention and Visitor Bureau, were able to award a grant to nineteen of our local businesses that have been affected by the COVID-19 Pandemic.  The Main Street Program is committed to the businesses in Historic Downtown Perry. We will continue to support them in any way possible.” The mission of the Perry Main Street Advisory Board is to promote a thriving downtown business district while preserving Perry’s historic resources and character.
