The City of Perry web site, as you see it here, is the result of many months of brainstorming, planning, design, and revision. The site will continue to evolve as we receive feedback from citizens, and as the city itself changes. The goal of this web site is to communicate to our citizens and friends the business of the City of Perry.
How information is "classified"
The site is divided into sections, as they are listed on the Home Page and as links at the bottom of every page. The section name is listed in the top right of every page. Every piece of information "lives" in a single section. However, you may be able to reach a single piece of information from many different routes; the value of a web site is the ability to link information wherever it is relevant.
The City of Perry felt it was important that information regarding the City's services "live" separate from the departments who manage them. Many citizens request information from the City with a service in mind; why make them jump through hoops to find it on the web site? For this reason, you'll see that the Services section of this site is by far the most expansive.
With this web site comes the opportunity for the City to conduct much of its business on-line. E-Gov now facilitates much of the on-line communication between the City and its citizens. In the future citizens will be able to view video of City Council meetings, make payments, and sign up for services through this section.
The City also determined that certain types of information were regularly requested by citizens; Plans/Ordinances, Forms & Publications, and Maps / GIS made their way to the top of this list, and secured sections for themselves.
The City of Perry deals with issues on a day-to-day basis, and so the Calendar and E-News sections are particularly relevant for many citizens.
Our web site "audience" was important in our classification process as well, so Kids and potential employees (under Employment) will find they have links off the Home Page just for them.
Finally, the City's business makes for a very busy and elaborate infrastructure. Visit the Government and Departments sections to see the City behind the scenes, and check out the Development section to see Perry in business.

Many forms, brochures, maps, and other documents are made available on this site in Adobe Acrobat (PDF) format. Acrobat files can be read using the free Acrobat Reader, available at www.adobe.com. This format allows documents to be printed so that they look as they were intended to look. These documents can also be saved to your hard drive for later access; once viewing the file, choose "Save As" in your browser and choose the desired location for the file.
