Georgia tags must be obtained within 30 days after residency has been established.  When purchasing a vehicle, title application tags or tag transfer must be completed within 21 days.  Ad-valorem taxes are collected on vehicles according to value and district where owner resides.  To obtain registration, the following is needed:
 

• Title of car or registration or name and address of lien holder

• Copy of lease agreement

• Current tag registration

• Valid insurance card which must be in your possession while driving
