Comp Time Information
The City of Perry does not provide compensatory ("comp") time in lieu of overtime pay or any other time worked. Employees are paid for all hours worked in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and City policy.
- General Employees: Most full-time employees are scheduled to work 80 hours in a bi-weekly (two-week) pay period. Hourly (non-exempt) employees are paid overtime at one and one-half (1 1/2) times their regular rate of pay for all hours worked over 40 in a workweek.
- Police Department: Police officers are assigned a 14-day work period under Section 7(k) of the FLSA (Overtime for Public Safety Employees). Police Officers are generally scheduled to work 86 hours during the 14-day work period. Hourly (non-exempt) employees are paid overtime at one and one-half (1 1/2) times their regular rate of pay for all hours worked over 86 in a pay period.
- Fire Department: Fire personnel are assigned a 14-day work period under Section 7(k) of the FLSA(Overtime for Public Safety Employees) . Fire staff are generally scheduled to work 106 hours in a 14-day work period. Hourly (non-exempt) employees are paid overtime at one and one-half (1 1/2) times their regular rate of pay for all hours worked over 106 in a pay period.
On-Call and Call-In Pay
Employees who are assigned on-call duty will be compensated in accordance with the applicable departmental on-call policy. If an employee is called in to perform work while on call, the employee will be compensated for the hours recorded as worked.
On-Call pay is paid at the regular rate. Time spent on call that is not is not counted as hours worked.
Call-in hours are treated as hours worked and are included when determining overtime eligibility under the employee's work schedule or bi-weekly work period.
