City of Perry Continues Annual Black History Month Banner Celebration

The City of Perry is celebrating Black History Month by recognizing prominent “firsts” from Perry’s African American community.

Individual banners consisting of a photo of the individual, their name, and a brief statement of their contribution to the City will be placed on various streets throughout the Downtown District.

“It is our vision to create an atmosphere where heritage is shared, celebrated and preserved through stories, facts and impactful contributions that African Americans have had on the overall development to the City of Perry,” said Councilmember Phyllis Bynum-Grace.

A new Black History Month banner design will also be displayed along General Courtney Hodges Boulevard throughout the duration of Black History Month.

The banners will be displayed from February 1, 2023, through February 28, 2023.

Banners may also be viewed online on the City’s website.
