City of Perry to Host "Precision Agriculture" Speaker Series Featuring UGA Grand Farm Initiative

The City of Perry’s Technology and Entrepreneurship Advisory Board will host a special speaker series titled Precision Agriculture: University of Georgia (UGA) Grand Farm Comes to Perry on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. at the Go Fish Education Center (1255 Perry Parkway).

This exciting event will introduce the UGA Grand Farm initiative to the Perry community and highlight the transformational potential of next-generation agriculture. Grand Farm is a cutting-edge ag-tech innovation hub that brings together researchers, entrepreneurs, and farmers to develop and deploy the farm of the future. Through the partnership between UGA and Grand Farm, Perry is positioned as a key player in advancing smart farming technologies, workforce development, and economic growth in rural communities.

Featured speakers include:

  • Dr. George Vellidis, Professor at the University of Georgia and a nationally recognized leader in precision agriculture.
  • Kaytlyn Cobb, Assistant Regional Director for Grand Farm, who brings valuable insight into regional innovation and industry collaboration.

“Grand Farm represents a powerful opportunity for Perry to be on the leading edge of agricultural technology and innovation,” said Holly Wharton, City of Perry Economic Development Director. “We’re thrilled to welcome the community to learn how this initiative will shape the future of farming—right here in Middle Georgia.”

This event is free and open to the public.
