Perry Buzzard Drop Earns Third Consecutive Nomination By USA TODAY

The Perry Buzzard Drop is, once again, gaining national recognition. For the third consecutive year, the event has been nominated for Best New Year’s Eve Drop in the USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards.

Each year, USA TODAY’s panel of editors and experts select the most unique and beloved celebrations across the country, inviting the public to vote for their favorites. Perry’s Buzzard Drop, known for its quirky charm, community spirit, and unmistakable small-town hospitality, continues to stand out among national contenders.

“This recognition highlights not only the success of the Buzzard Drop, but also Perry’s commitment to creating events that bring people together,” said Tabitha Clark, Communications Director for the City of Perry. “It’s exciting to see our community’s spirit celebrated on a national level.”

The Perry Buzzard Drop takes place annually in Historic Downtown Perry on New Year’s Eve, featuring live music, food vendors, family-friendly activities, and the iconic buzzard that descends as the clock strikes midnight. The event has quickly become one of Georgia’s most anticipated year-end celebrations. The event also earned national recognition from the City-County Communications & Marketing Association (3CMA).

Voting for the USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards is open to the public from Monday, November 3 through Monday, December 1 at 11:59 a.m. EST.

The Top 10 winners will be announced on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, on the 10Best website.
