City of Perry Appoints New Assistant City Manager
Perry City Council voted to appoint Mitchell Worthington as Assistant City Manager for the City of Perry at their February 17 meeting.
Worthington joined the City of Perry in 2018 as Assistant Finance Director and has served as Finance Director since 2019. He brings 15 years of experience in local government finance, budgeting, and administration.
During his tenure as Finance Director, Worthington oversaw the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department, including Accounting, Purchasing, and Customer Service/Utility Billing, as well as management of the City’s annual audit. In coordination with the City Manager and Department Heads, he directed development of the City’s annual budget, ensuring spending aligned with
the Mayor and Council’s strategic goals.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the City of Perry as the Assistant City Manager,” Worthington said. “I look forward to advancing the priorities set by Mayor and Council while supporting the strong operational and financial foundation that enables our organization to serve residents effectively.”
Prior to joining the City of Perry, Worthington served as a Budget Analyst for the City of Roswell, Georgia, where he coordinated budget development for the Environmental/Public Works and Transportation Departments. He also served in various financial roles at the Middle Georgia Regional Commission, supporting local governments throughout the region.
Worthington holds both a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Mercer University. He is a member of the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), the Georgia Government Finance Officers Association (GGFOA), and Rotary International.
